Somerset Edge Glamorgan in Taunton Thriller to Win the Vitality Blast

Somerset stretched their unbeaten start to the 2026 Vitality Blast campaign with a gutsy win over Glamorgan in a tight affair at Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton on Thursday night in Central & West Group action. Both teams gave an excellent showing and the crowd at the Ricoh were treated to a match that swung back and forth until late on.

Build-up: Somerset had started the group among the early pace-setters, while Glamorgan were looking to find some rhythm after a patchy beginning to their campaign. Previous meetings between the two sides had already produced an exhilarating encounter earlier in the competition when Glamorgan chased down 172 to overcome Somerset by seven wickets at Sophia Gardens.

The Somerset batting unit proved its depth yet again, with important contributions up and down the order getting the home side to a challenging total. Fielding finally played a big role, the home side making several smart stops and catches to flip any momentum into their favour.

Somerset kept their composure in the final overs to record an important victory, despite a determined fightback from Glamorgan’s middle order.
